HEMP OIL

My favourite oil (at the moment - it changes all the time) is Hemp Oil. This versatile oil is basically liquid gold. And it doesn't get the recognition it deserves for the amount of healing it does.

The first recorded medicinal use of hemp oil was around 2700 B.C. Hemp, along with its seeds and oils, has been used for more than 10,000 years for various purposes. As one of the first plants to be grown in crops, hemp was used to make rope, paper, clothing, textiles and even shoes while its seeds and oils were used as food and medicines.

Now that technology has improved, we're taking it a step further with making plastics (YES!!!), insulation, paint, hempcrete, bio-fuel, and even car manufacturers now use composite panels.

Henry Ford recognised hemp oil as being 10 x stronger than steel and manufactured a car made from hemp bio-plastic. This never took off sadly, as it would have defined how cars were built, and the safety would have been better than what it is today. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of two main cannabinoids found in cannabis and hemp plants. The other main cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol, otherwise known as THC. Both THC and CBD have medicinal and therapeutic applications. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive, so there isn't a ‘high’ that comes with it. This means consumers can reap all of the benefits without impairment and little, if any side effects. This is why CBD is becoming increasingly popular for a multitude of health conditions, including epilepsy, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and even cancer. Quote by Hippocrates: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." And with animals too. CBD is also becoming more available for use on dogs, cats, and other animals. Veterinarians are finding that CBD oil can be useful in treating things like arthritis, stress, digestive issues, Type 1 diabetes, broken bones, cancer, and even aggression. I've been using Hemp Oil daily for a while now and love the fact I'm providing my body with some natural nutrition from the earth. It has a nutty smell to it and is dark green in colour. I use it in my Lip Balm and is the best one I've made to date. The Hemp Oil Body Balm has proven popular with people wanting something that moisturises both dry and oily skin. It seems no matter what skin type you have Hemp Oil works with you and provides a balance. I get a lot of good feedback about this, both from people with normal skin and the ones who are after something to calm problem skin. I was using it in soap for a while, but it made sense to put it into the leave-on product rather than the wash-off one. This was a good decision and my skin is a lot happier for it.
