Fact about handmade soap: It's made from plant based oils and butters which are nature's goodness with nutrients and antioxidants which are good for your skin. Your skin is your biggest organ and what you put on it, goes into your bloodstream in no time. Using handmade soap with quality natural ingredients vs supermarket body wash (have you seen the ingredients lists on these???) is the kindest care you can show the skin you're in.
Handmade soap contains glycerin which is a natural byproduct of the soap making process, an excellent moisturiser and also one of the reasons that handmade soap is so good for your skin. Glycerin is an emollient which attracts moisture from the air, maintaining moisture in the skin throughout the day. Store bought, mass-produced bars normally do not contain glycerin and can leave your skin feeling dry and irritated. Not being actual soap, they contain detergents which strip our skin of its natural oils. They use synthetic ingredients to achieve properties such as a thick lather or hardness of the bar. On top of being moisturising, my handmade soap achieves these properties by having the correct ratios of plant-based oils, butters and other natural ingredients.
Typical factory made commercial soaps have had all of the glycerin removed and placed into additional products such as lotions and creams. The reason is instead of buying one product that will clean and moisturize, such as handmade soap, a consumer now has to buy two products to serve the same purpose. The main driver behind using these synthetic, drying ingredients as well as removing glycerin, is all to save money from their bottom line, not to provide the customer with a quality product.
